Manchester Camerata + Music in Mind
Music Champions

Last week it was announced that Greater Manchester is to become the UK’s first Centre of Excellence for Music and Dementia hosted by Manchester Camerata! This truly landmark investment will have a huge impact on the organisation and those who benefit from it.

Music in Mind is an internationally-renowned music programme created by Manchester Camerata, in collaboration with the University of Manchester and was devised from the foundations of some of the world’s leading dementia experts.

We have been working closely with Manchester Camerata and Music in Mind to produce a series of training videos for their music therapy based programme to help improve the lives of people living with dementia.

Music in Mind is an internationally-renowned music programme created by Manchester Camerata, in collaboration with the University of Manchester and was devised from the foundations of some of the world’s leading dementia experts.

As part of the investment, the programme will continue to grow its community of  ‘Music Champions’ who will be able to run Music Cafes for people with dementia and their family carers in partnership with community groups across all 10 boroughs of Greater Manchester.  Music in Mind will work to integrate research outcomes from its programme with the GM Care Record to evidence how music can be used to reduce pressure on NHS and social care staff.

The training videos will be available as part of the programme via the www.musicinmind.org website.

We realised that creating a video series around this subject matter needed a sensitive approach. Having of worked with the team at Manchester Camerata for 4 years we had a strong understanding of how the team and people with Dementia collaborate and like to work.

Filmed over a number of months we created 23 training videos and a number of explainer videos for the programme. Designed to be a teaching tool, we kept the set up and narrative simple and easy to understand. The Sound & Colour team worked on the project from production stage, shoot, edit and delivery.

As the videos are to used by trained teams we’re unable to share the individual ones however our client and friend Helena Bull had some lovely words to say about the project and crew here!

Working collaboratively on a project like this was key and something our client valued from the crew.

The

I’ve been working with Sound and Colour for about 4 years now.

For me –  Great communications all about telling your story as succinctly as possible, with the correct emotion. Sound and Colour, always understand the emotional tone we are trying to achieve and can take large unwieldy touchpoints and whittle them down to a clear and concise end result. Their work is always of fantastic quality, and they are willing to help and go the extra mile when needed.  I couldn’t recommend enough!
