Rick Bailey
WE ARE HIRING!
Updated: Nov 15, 2021
Sound & Colour Films are looking for a Junior / Middleweight Video Editor to join our team.
We need you; a fast thinking, detail focussed, multi skilled editor, to create show stopping short-form video content for our clients.
Who We Are
Sound & Colour Films are a commercial video production company based in Stockport (South Manchester), run by Chris Elliott and Rick Bailey. We started the company over 5 years ago having started out as freelance camera operators. Over that time we have built a reputation producing content for big brands such as Scotts Menswear, BBC Sport, Adidas, Liverpool FC, Bleacher Report Football, Hoover, Barbour and Kia.
Our Work
We produce short-form commercial video content for online and social media, but we’ve also had our work go out on Match of The Day. Our productions vary from Sports Documentaries, Fashion, Music, Interviews, Promos and Live-streamed events. High-end production values and innovative content ideas are the backbone of our work. We often work to fast turn-around deadlines with deliverable assets tailored to multiple social channels.
We own and shoot on the latest cinema cameras including RED Gemini and Sony FX9, so an understanding of RED / Sony post-production workflows would be an advantage (though this can be taught). Our work gives us the opportunity to travel all over the world, collaborate with amazing freelance crew - and recently with on-screen talent such as Sam Fender, Marcus Rashford, Robert Fermino, The Lathums, Reece Parkinson and Simon Rimmer.
Who We Need
Following a successful year of growth we’re looking for an additional member of our team to help with the increasing workload. We need a Junior / Middleweight Video Editor who has excellent Adobe Premiere Pro CC skills and preferably good knowledge of After Effects too. You must be comfortable working on Mac and have a good eye for detail. Nothing excites you more than a well organised project file/folder structure you say? You might be the person for us!
Although you’ll receive direction and support on all projects, someone who has an abundance of creativity and is happy to work autonomously to a brief would be ideal. Duties will include: logging of footage (DIT), creating rough cuts and selects from rushes, developing creative edits from brief, backing up footage/projects, ensuring deliverables meet requirements and quality control on your own work. Creating content across multiple aspect ratios for social (16:9, 4:5 and 9:16). A knowledge of colour grading and use of LUTS within Premiere or Resolve would be great. An aptitude for motion graphic design in After Effects on logos, intros/outros and lower thirds would be a big advantage.
Ideally you will have at least 2-3 years experience working as a video editor / content creator, either freelance or as part of an organisation. Good communication is important as you will need to liaise with clients from time to time.
We would also give you the opportunity to come out on shoots to assist us with setups, camera and lighting, so a willingness to learn broader production skills and get stuck in is a must.
Work would be from our office based in Heald Green 9am - 5pm Mon - Fri for the most part, but some flexibility and working from home would be possible. Shoot days may involve potentially longer hours due to travel, or overnights - although nice hotels and meals out with crew/clients are a great perk of the job!
Why Sound & Colour

You would be joining us at an extremely exciting time on our journey and you’d have the opportunity to grow and develop with us. We will give you training and development opportunities and teach you everything we’ve learned along the way.

If you are happy to come on film shoots with us these can be in the UK and around the world, We eat well and always stay in good hotels and when time allows explore new places in the down time. We don't want you to work for us but with us!
